Well it’s not everyday that you get the opportunity to rebrand a company established in Read more

Well it’s not everyday that you get the opportunity to rebrand a company established in 1927, steeped in tradition and a local institution almost.

Having recently come under new ownership, we were approached by the client to facelift the brand with a view towards them better embracing the modern market place together with Social Media and an online ecommerce prescence.

So we approached the brief with “kid gloves”, knowing how careful we’d have to be to maintain the integrity of the brand whilst giving it a new look. Taking the brief to the team on “Think Tank Tuesday” we kicked around all kinds of ideas and concepts and opted to go the retro/classic route.

We wanted to get under the skin of the brand, the people involved and what made it all tick and so arranged a factory visit where we were shown around and had the pleasure of meeting Ron, the main man and Chief Sugar Boiler who has been with the company for – wait for this……………… 55 years! Now don’t tell him and am not sure if he is aware but he inspired Willy Willett who now has pride of place on the Willets Website.

Sugar candy stripes and some pastille colours were the order of the day with a traditional typeface intertwining a modern twist. Circular classic logo that would lend itself to versatile useage on packaging and labels, stationery and the new website. (We were pleased to be able to use the circular cut out for the sweet jar labels, showing off the product inside the jar).

With some cheeky business cards and distinctive, functional stationery, the guys were now getting pretty much well set as we went on to get our teeth into the new website.

The site utilises a membership (lead collection system) to allow display of product pricing that is aimed predominantly at the retail sector.

Sam is ensuring the site is now getting some really good exposure and the business seems to be picking up some traction, recently picking up a significant order that aligns the brand with another nationally recognised product. The feedback has been tremendous from our client who went onto to say “we really don’t know how to thank you guys”.

Well Ron, get that boiler on son, them little Sour Fish fellas are my favourite

You know when something just blows you away and leaves you thinking “wow how good Read more

You know when something just blows you away and leaves you thinking “wow how good is that” ?. Well we had one of those moments recently out of the blue and totally unexpected.

We have been massive fans of 37 Signals for some time now. Like many creative agencies, their online project management platform Basecamp has become integral to our business and has cleverly become one of those investments that has paid us back time and time again. We just love it and absolutely wouldn’t be without it now.

I personally love the Highrise CRM system too which I find great for keeping everything organised contacts wise. Just recently I encountered a problem with Highrise (that ultimately ended up being user error!) and submitted a support request that was quickly sorted by Chris Joyce in the Customer Support Team. Great! All is good I thought and then I spot the feedback graphic in the email response. Fantastic! How can you not spend a few seconds giving feedback with an approach like that?

So I did and told it like it was.

Pleased that all had turned out as I wanted and I could be on with what I was doing I never gave this another moment’s thought until a couple of days later when I got a call from Sam at Redesign HQ telling me a package had come for me.

Was it one of a number of packages of client business cards we were expecting from the printer? Or maybe it was some printed invitations we had ordered for another client but crikey, they would have been early!

When I got back into the office I was intrigued to find it was a sponge cake from sponge.co.uk and not just a sponge cake either, a STICKY TOFFEE PUDDING SPONGE CAKE! Wow!

And then the pièce de résistance, a personalised card with the message:

Hey Neil!

We wanted to send something yummy to say thanks for being great customers!

37 Signals Customer Support Team.

How awesome is that! We’re all about customer service here at Redesign and this resonated highly here. Everybody likes to be loved and boy did we feel loved!

Jordan and Jack were onto that sticky toffee pudding cake like the proverbial “tramp on a kipper” and sponge.co.uk have had a few quid from us in the past week or two.

A simple but powerful act and everybody wins here.

Big thanks once again to 37 Signals for the ultimate lesson in customer service.

It looks like the world is still alive and kicking after the controversial end of the Mayan calendar.

So lets make Christmas into a time of great celebration and tomfoolery, where Grandad’s have a few too many shandy’s and burst into their river dancing shoes, jiving to Chaz and Dave, whilst Mums and Nannas are outside in the yard trying to catch the Christmas turkey and using there superpower of asbestos hands to handle 300°C scolding plates.

At Redesign however it was a different, grueling story as we helped Santa deliver his sack of presents (as you will see in the rocking video above).

The team at Redesign would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Or as we say in Yorkshire……….

We were recently approached by David Bodman, a local glazier and glass specialist looking for entry level branding for his new company David Bodman Glass and Glazing. Dave has oodles of experience in the glazing industry and has embarked on a new venture, plying his trade and experience across Doncaster and Yorkshire. That said, he’s looking to grow quickly and is qualified to speak to potential clients across the UK.

Dave had clear ideas about what he wanted, supplying a clear design brief for a clean and sharp, recognisable image. We hit the nail on the head first time and Dave was absolutely delighted with the brand concept by Redesign. Of course this is not a one way street and the early success was much down to Dave’s clear vision and accurate brief.

Turning it all around very quickly for imminent client meetings Dave had, we applied the design concepts to various elements such as business cards which we had printed with a nice spot uv element to highlight the angular element of the logo and convey that ever important first impression of quality.

Together with a simple contact landing page to capture online enquiries and a magazine ad for a number of local printed directories, we also arranged the signwriting for Dave’s van which looks the dog’s “doo dahs” and ensures he’s got full coverage and exposure every which way. We understand Dave’s very busy at the moment so everybody’s happy. Smashing!

We chat with many clients about the crux of getting across your message and making it stick. It’s a challenge, not always easy and is the subject of may “brainstorms” and “power meetings” across the world. What to do, what to say, how to look, how to be different. It’s mulled over times many on a daily basis by marketing teams, marketing agencies, business owners large and small.

Cast your mind back to the last time you took a seat on a plane, focussed on your holiday and contemplated what the days ahead hold. No more office for a week or two, no deluge of email on a daily basis just sun, sand and …..sangria, whatever. The last thing you need at this stage is to witness the cabin staff going through the motions with the standard safety chat you’ve seen a hundred times and never been interested once (as pretty as the stewardess may be!). So what about this approach from Thomson Airways and their junior cabin crew. Memorable without question!

Thank you for giving this your full attention – Enjoy your flight!

If memorable is your idea for your Brand, then why not fly with Redesign.

Every now and again being in the Redesign office feels like you’ve won golden circle tickets to a surprise show. Not only did we get to see the arrival of the lions being transported to Yorkshire Wildlife Park, but I got to witness another delivery a couple of weeks ago.

It was only when I heard a thunderous rumbling that I realised another spectacle was about to happen outside.

The Redesign office window frames Robin Hood Airport’s runway perfectly, and as I peered out I could see people waiting expectantly at the fence, staring at the sky.

It turned out that the noise was the arrival of the next thing to be re-homed at Doncaster, the only remaining Vulcan of the 134 that were built for the RAF. As RAF Lyneham is soon to be closed the Vulcan will now be kept at Robin Hood Airport for the foreseeable future.

The Vulcan has been sat outside the Redesign window ever since as the owner, Vulcan to the Sky Trust, aims to raise £225,000 to ensure the plane is ready for the air show season.
